Hi guys, i was wondering how people progress their volume through a mescocycle in a gaining phase.
Ive been increaseing my reps (working in 6-8 range for compounds for 3 sets) and progressing in weight when im able to get the top end of 3 sets of 8.
but i read an article from Mike Israetel about gradually adding more working sets per week to your routine aswell.
Was wondering if many of you implement this idea alongside increasing reps and sets each week?
I personally followed the Dr. Mike model of MRV for a couple of months now and it is really a great guideline. Start with low volume and add sets till you have to deload. Mostly 4 weeks increasing volume and then 1 week deload. What I found is that I have to start very low so the first week always feels like still deloading but the overreaching week before the deload literally kills me^^. the two weeks in between are always really productive and in future I want to accumulate more weeks of that before I have to deload. So I will increase Volume as much as I can through reps and weight on the bar and just add a set as a later option :) great topic Carl!
