First off - massive thanks to AJ for what will become an awesome platform to share progress, interact, and watch some cool stuff video wise.
I’ll be logging my training, nutrition, and supplementation here as I tend to mainly post training videos on Instagram (@benbroadhurst_).
Going into my first year of college (uni for you guys) studying law. I run my online coaching under Capital Physiques, which is treating me well, I love coaching.
Hope you guys enjoy the reads!
Following!
May I ask why no carbs pre training?
Saturday 24/11/18
Leg Day
1a- Hip Adduction
1b- Hamstring Curl
2- Back Squats
3- DB Goblet Squat
4- Ham Dom. Leg Press
5- BB Stiff Leg Deadlift
6- Alt DB Curl
I didn’t mention it previously, but I do train Calves and Abs daily.
Chasing a 315x12 SLDL today which scares me .. a lot.
Friday 23/11/18
Shoulders/Triceps
1- Bent Over DB Flyes
2- Seated DB Press
3- DB Lateral Raises
4a- Overhead Rope Ext
4b- Overhead DB Ext
5- Close Grip Bench
More volume (here via reps) for Shoulders, whom I find respond well to brutal, HIGH rep sets. I’m talking running a rack of laterals for 15-50 reps.
Thanks AJ, you know how mucb I value your opinion.
Honestly - I attribute a LOT of my strength gains to FEELING good, wanting to train, wanting to just do shit - excuse my French. As much as I‘ve always loved training, there’s a lot to be said for mood, happiness and performance.
I do take shots weekly, and so far changes are mainly water retention (in a good way, just as creatine holds water intra-cellularly, I feel much fuller through the day). I don’t know that there can be SO much tissue in such period of time but visually speaking, I do look bigger, yes. I’ll post up my next shots this weekend.
Re. Hormone use, this is obviously something I’ve studied extensively for a while now, but I have to say I’m bitter as to “having” to use them so early. By September, it was something I’d considered for a while (for well being), and it was really just a “you need to feel better day to day” question. I don’t intend to run a “real” cycle anytime soon.
Can't wait to see your log progress Ben. Fantastic, honest update. Are you taking any progress shots recently? Your lifts have SKY ROCKETED, so much be plenty of tissue.
Thursday 22/11/18
Back/Traps
1- HS High Rows (Lats)
2- Bent Over DB Rows (Trap/Upper Back)
3- Deadlifts
4a- BB Shrugs (To Back)
4b BB Shrugs (To Front)
5- High Cable Rows (Trap/Upper Back)
Switched up some food sources with appetite getting higher. Meals 2 and 6 will be Cod and Shrimp (as opposed to Chicken), yielding more volume and slightly less fat. That to me is as flexible as I get.
Hey guys - awful job on my end updating the log, overwhelmed is an understatement to describe what I've been dealing with school. Hectic schedule on most (5/7) days (3.30AM-11PM), studies, work, training, etc. but getting it done.
I have, for the past 4 months, been monitoring blood-work in hopes of some values coming back into order after some unfortunate events in my life, whom, on top of extended periods of time spent at low body-fat levels, crushed by T levels HARD. My last check-up was totaling 92ng/dl, which is far below lowest end of healthy range (200-900). I am now prescribed TRT (Test E at 100mg/week, split into 2 shots). My next bloods will be in 4 weeks, but I finally feel GOOD again. It really does take feeling good to realize how awful you felt before. Mood, energy, sex drive, list goes on. My strength has increased nicely, especially (without surprise) on lifts I particularly enjoy at the moment: BB stiff leg DL, BB rows amongst others.
Diet is (training after M3):
1- Beef, Greens
2- Chicken, EVCO, Greens
3- Beef, Greens
4- EAA, HBCD (intra)
5- Egg Whites, Basmati Rice, Greens
6- Chicken, Basmati Rice, Greens
7- Egg Whites, Almond Butter, Greens
That's the base, I'm fine with swapping Whites for Whey here and there for M7, or something along those lines.
Training:
1- Quads/Hams
2- Chest/Tris
3- Back/Traps
4- Delts/Bis
Came off a de-load last week after a nice 17-18 week run, and have my goals set for the next 15-20 again.
Hope you all are crushing your training as well.
Loving the videos.
Ben
Sure, BUT it's better imo than your previous PWO being the ONLY place you had cho (besides intra)
Great to have you back logging dude & that split/food set up seems lovely.
VERY happy to see you splitting up your carbs a little more across the day, no more poor relationship with the pwo meal :)
sorry to hear that things aren't going well atm...and seriously, how f*cked up do you have to be to bring people down in comments, that is just so cowardly...I will never understand such people...I mean what a boring life do you have to have to do that?
anyway, I am sure that will never happen here! hope things will get better!
thats a solid routine youve got down, all the best with studies
maybe pull back a little bit from your lower volume to not make it worse.. as you know longevity is one of the most important factors in natural bb..
really hope your glute/ham gets better! did you already have an injury in that area?
food***
which can be super hard when stressed about school but everyone goes through it at some point, youll find a way to get it done
deff keep pushing soon. should be a layer over those abs and serratus by xmas
okay cool, thanks I understand:) totally understandable that you cannot post your routine! but sounds VERY interesting and I am excited to see how it goes and how you like it! keep us updated;)
I think it's so exciting that there are already so many different training approaches in this forum. I'm really curious how it'll workmout for you !!!
oh my god ben the programming literally EXCATLY what ive been working on myself or better yet what im trying to develop in my training, even if i dont run it, im purchasing for purely the knowledge. damn this is exciting take it and run with it for sure
I think Josh Vogel is the dude with hugeeeeeeeeeeee legs that has collabed with Jeff Nippard a few times. This is exciting stuff man ! periodized nutrition sounds very intresting
very very interesting! I am sorry, but I don't know Josh Vogel and although I have already heard of MI40, I have no clue as to what they stand for, what is typical for them etc...?
And were you previously doing your own programming?
